2012 Group Exhibition Opportunities

GROUP EXHIBIT OPPORTUNITY

If your artist group would like to produce a show in the upper gallery at the WAC in January 2012 please contact jimfuess@comcast.net.

To apply for group show please read the following:

The Watchung Arts Center: www.watchungarts.org Is a multi use arts facility with an upper and lower art gallery. We also present quality works in fine arts, exciting music, and comedy events as well as classes in drawing, photography, and yoga.

The Gallery: The upper gallery where this show will be held is 30x40 feet with 12 foot ceilings, track lighting, and a Walker hanging system. The room is also used for various concerts, comedy shows and other events. This means that a large number of people see the art shows. Your show will open at the same time as that of the lower gallery.

The basics:

• All works must be hand delivered.
• The work must hang on the wall.
• No work larger than 72 inches in any dimension.
• The works are NOT insured.
• No nudity.
• 30% commission.
• We will ask each accepted artist who is included in the show to donate a hanging fee of $35.00 to the Arts Center to cover expenses.
• We ask that the selected group deliver, hang, label, write publicity which we will send out, collect hanging fees, help put out and disassemble the food and wine at the reception.
• Jim Fuess and the NAG will supervise and help with all aspects of
  the show.

If your group would like to be considered please send us your proposal. The following items are required:

• The show must have a central idea, title and focus. We will not put up a
  show of random works.
• The show must be new or not shown within 100 miles of the WAC.
• Please think something that has a theme or specific approach. We prefer something like "The Seven Deadly Sins" (which the NAG has done before) rather than "Clouds".
• The more interesting, original, and challenging the theme is the more likely it is to be accepted.
• Explain why you want to do this show. How it is relevant. Why people would want to see it. How it is different.
• The show should be juried from your members.
• At least 7 artists should be involved in the show.
• The group should be from New Jersey, NY, PA or CT
• Provide a history of your group and where you have exhibited.
• If you have a current web site please provide it along with your proposal.
• If you do not have a web site please provide a CD of your members current works.
• Your proposal will be juried by the members of the New Art Group.
• The due date and notification will be advised.

History: The New Art Group (NAG) www.newartgroup.com is a group of 5 New Jersey artists that is 20 years old and they have done over 40 group shows. The group was formed out of the Visual Arts Committee at the Watchung Arts Center (WAC). They were responsible for arts show in the lower and upper galleries for 7 years. During this time Jim Fuess was the curator at the WAC. We are now returning to our roots after a 10 year hiatus.
