New Jersey has the greatest population density of any state in the USA. It has the greatest Per capita income. It has the 5th largest percentage of million dollar homes. 40% of the state is open land. There is only 10% of developable land left. Right now there is a race between the state which is buying up land and the developers who are building. It is estimated that this amount of land will be used up in 10-15 years. It will happen in our lifetime. This is called “Build out” What happens then? NJ is just starting to experience a decline in population for the first time. NJ also has the highest local property taxes in the country.

What is excess? Is it only relative? Is there a morality or ethic to land use? What is the impact on the environment and wildlife? At what point is a house too large? Who is to say what is too large? Seven artists express their opinions and feelings on these timely subjects through painting, mixed media, drawing, photography and other artistic devices.
